Our Story
A legacy chartered in 1976.
Founded on a fundamental purpose
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated was founded January 5, 1911 on the campus of Indiana University by ten brave men determined to pursue achievement in every field of human endeavor. From those humble beginnings grew an international brotherhood now comprising hundreds of chapters and alumni across the world.
Theta Chi at UMBC
The Theta Chi Chapter was chartered on December 18, 1976 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. For nearly five decades, our brothers have represented Kappa with distinction — in the classroom, in service to the Catonsville and greater Baltimore communities, and in every field of professional life.
What we stand for
Achievement. Scholarship. Service. Brotherhood. These are not slogans — they are the standard by which every Nupe of Theta Chi is measured. Our line of brothers stretches back across generations, and every new initiate inherits the responsibility to carry that line forward.
